Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year at the PCHS library

Welcome back or simply welcome to a  brand new school year and the last chapter of the current high school/library.  I am very excited about this school year.  Book Club has already had it's first meeting of the school year.  There are new faces along with the old ones.  We are always excited to welcome to members to the "Island of Misfit Toys" as we call ourselves.  This year the Book Club will be hosting an event later in the school year in correlation with the middle school.  Stay tuned for more information on that.  The information for the 2015 Abe Award is on the library webpage.  There are links to the Abe Award youtube Book trailers and PowerPoint presentations as well as the Google form to record the Abe Award books that you've read to get credit for the four books you must read to get to participate in the pizza party in the spring and get to vote for your favorite.

Make sure to check the PCHS library facebook page for additional updates and information.

Happy Reading!!!!

Welcome to a brand new school year and a new librarian!

Welcome to a brand new school year at PCHS! My name is Miss Katie Kittell and I am the new librarian. I want to let everyone know a little about me and my background. I went to high school at Lewistown High School and graduated in 2001. I received my bachelor's degree from EIU in 2005 in Elementary Education. I taught junior high Language Arts for 1 year at West Pike Jr/Sr High in Kinderhook, IL and 3rd grade at Steeleville Grade School in Steeleville, IL for 1 year. At both schools I got to know the librarians pretty well and decided to go back to school and get my Masters Degree through the University of Missouri in Information Science and Learning Technologies in 2010. I was the District Librarian for South Fork School District in Kincaid, IL for three years before coming to wonderful PCHS! I am looking forward to an amazing school year and getting to know everyone at PCHS. I hope everyone stops by the library to see what new things are going on and discuss reading/books!
